Woman found with 100 pounds of marijuana on I-80, sheriff’s office says
The Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office on Wednesday arrested a woman on Interstate 80 who was found with 100 pounds of marijuana, according to the probable cause affidavit.
Chelsey Parker, 29, of California, was stopped on I-80 for traveling 70 mph in a 65 mph zone, failure to signal a lane change and swerving onto the shoulder, according to the affidavit.
Deputies suspected Parker was involved in criminal activity. They asked for consent to search the vehicle, which Parker denied. A trained police dog was used to search the vehicle externally, which alerted deputies to the odor of narcotics inside the car, according to the affidavit.
The Sheriff’s Office proceeded with a probable cause search and discovered 100 pounds of marijuana in the trunk and $3,408 cash in Parker’s purse, deputies say.
Judge Laurie Yardley set Parker’s percentage bond at $50,000, meaning she would have to pay $5,000 to be released.
