Three charged in Burke County traffic stop; 65 bags of marijuana seized

BURKE COUNTY, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) – The Burke County Sheriff’s Office has charged three men following a traffic stop that led the seizure of 65 bags of marijuana.

On Saturday, March 30, the Burke County Sheriff’s Office posted to their Facebook page reporting a traffic stop this weekend near Savannah Avenue.

They say after Deputy Mobley conducted a traffic stop for an equipment violation, the passenger in the vehicle attempted to exit but complied once given orders to stay inside.

The Facebook post continues that an odor of marijuana was detected and other deputies arrived to assist; during a search of the vehicle, deputies located a bag on the floorboard with 65 individual bags of marijuana.

The sheriff’s office says the total weight of marijuana located was approximately 214 grams and deputies also seized $3,140 due to the narcotics located.

They say Corrie Boyd, Alvin Griffin, and Tyrone Abrams were charged with Possession of marijuana with the intent to Distribute.

At the end of the post, Sheriff Alfonzo Williams said, “Proactive patrols by our deputies continue to get drugs, illegal firearms and wanted persons off the streets and you can count on us to keep Burke County a safe place to work, live and raise your family.”
