CANASTOTA, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — On Wednesday, March 20, several people were arrested after two smoke shops in Canastota were caught selling illegal marijuana products.
Canastota police, along with the City of Oneida Police Department, the Madison County Department of Health and the Village of Canastota code enforcement, carried out search warrants at In N Out Deli on North Main Street and S&P Convenience on South Peterboro Street.
When they searched the smoke shops, officers found large quantities of marijuana, flavored vape liquid and concentrated cannabis, Canastota police say.
THC candies and psychoactive-infused chocolate edibles packaged to look like name-brand candy bars were also found, according to Canastota police.
Five people have been charged with the following offenses:
- Criminal sale of cannabis
- Criminal possession of cannabis
- Criminal possession of a controlled substance
All of these charges are misdemeanors.
The businesses were also cited for multiple code violations.
